MONTREAL – A civic funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at city hall for former Montreal mayor Jean Doré.
Doré passed away from pancreatic cancer after battling with the disease for several months.
He was 70.
Doré was elected mayor of Montreal in 1986, taking over from Jean Drapeau.
He stayed in power until 1994.
Members of the public viewed the ceremony via a large screen at Place Vauquelin, adjacent to city hall.
