TORONTO – One of Toronto’s construction nightmares is coming to an end, as the grand reopening of Queen’s Quay will finally get commuters moving.

Three years and nearly $130 million later, the new renovation project is finally being revealed.

Mayor John Tory and Federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver will be on hand for the ribbon cutting of the new waterfront promenade on Friday.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Organizers say hundreds of residents and visitors will be waving a 650-metre long blue ribbon.

The project will feature new promenades and benches, granite sidewalks and separate lanes for cars, streetcars, cyclists and pedestrians.

The big unveil comes after years of road closures, construction headaches and a controversial price tag.

All three levels of government have pumped funding into the project, that ran more than $35 million over budget.
