Two-vehicle crash near Stony Plain sends three to hospital

EDMONTON – A collision between a van and a pick-up truck just west of Stony Plain has injured three people.

At around 3 p.m. Monday, Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP, along with fire and EMS, responded to a two-vehicle crash at Highway 16A and Range Road 20.

There were two people in each of the two vehicles.

The driver of one of the vehicles was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital by Stars air ambulance. The passenger was released at the scene with minor injuries. The other driver and passenger were taken by ground ambulance to hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 16A were shut down by police after the collision. The eastbound lanes from the junction of Highway 16A to Range Road 20 were re-opened at 6:42 p.m. Monday along with Range Road 20 where it intersects with the highway.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
