PENTICTON — A Penticton woman is $1 million richer after winning a Lotto 6/49 draw. Irene Vestner was running errands when she decided to self-check her ticket, the same moment her life changed.
“I didn’t believe it at first, when I checked my ticket,” says Vestner. “I had to call the store manager over to double check it and all I could do was stare at the machine in disbelief – I was stunned by the amount.”

According to the B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Vestner’s closest friend was the first person she told about the win.
“At first, my friend thought I won $1,000 and I told her to check the zeros and she couldn’t believe there were six of them,” says Vestner.
Vestner told BCLC that the first thing she’ll buy will probably be a new condo but for now, she just needs time to let everything sink in. BCLC says the winning ticket was purchased at SmartShopper in Penticton. She won the Guaranteed Prize Draw on the May 30 Lotto 6/49 draw.
