Two people arrested in connection to ongoing Delta-Surrey turf war

A series of police raids took place in Metro Vancouver today, resulting in the arrest of two people and the seizure of money and drugs in connection to the recent gang violence in Surrey and Delta.

Over 50 police officers were involved in the searches, which took place at four homes in Surrey and Langley.

“Today we executed several warrants in several different properties,” said Delta Police Acting Sergeant Sarah Swallow.

She said four people were taken into custody while the searches took place, but it may be some time until additional arrests or charges are made.

“It’s all part and parcel and tied in together. Depending on what results we get from the searches and search warrant, that will give us an idea of what charges individuals will face as a result of these warrants today.”

Dozens of shootings in Surrey and Delta, B.C., since March have left one person dead and others injured. At least seven arrests were made in connection to the situation last month, and police have received dozens of calls since a dedicated tip line was launched.

The federal government announced last month that Surrey would be getting 100 more RCMP officers and $3.5 million towards a gang-reduction program.
