According to the White House website, Bray enrolled in Central Piedmont Community College, in a program made through a partnership between Siemens – an engineering firm, and the college. The company helped to pay Bray’s tuition, said Obama in his speech, and was eventually hired by Siemens.
In his address, Obama promised to create similar programs around the country and make information about them easily accessible online and elsewhere.
