EDMONTON — Seven people were arrested after seven Fort McMurray properties were searched Wednesday as part of a lengthy investigation into organized crime and drug trafficking.
Five homes, along with a hotel room and a business, were searched Wednesday as part of the investigation.
On Thursday, officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said seven people had been arrested, including Patrick Felix, 34, and Jason Mulley, 31.
ALERT said the investigation targeted the alleged drug trafficking networks of Felix and Mulley, who are accused of being the “head of a complex cocaine and fentanyl trafficking operation that spanned Northern Alberta and included Fort McMurray and Edmonton.”

Felix and Mulley have been charged with several offences, including drug trafficking, conspiracy to traffic and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
ALERT said five other people were arrested and charged with drug-related offences: Mandy Gauvreau, 28; Alexander Jurich, 48; Rachel Jurich, 47; Spencer Brown, 22 – all from Fort McMurray; and Levi Lund, 26, from Edmonton.
Warrants have been issued for 66-year-old Gary Partridge of Fairview and 22-year-old Paul Ohelo of Fort McMurray.
Wednesday, search warrants were executed at five homes, a room at the Chateau Nova hotel and at the Supplement King store on Signal Road.
During the searches, large amounts of cocaine and fentanyl were seized along with two firearms and a large inventory of vehicles, which police seized as potential proceeds of crime.
The investigation continues and officials are still in the process of cataloguing the evidence.
