CALGARY – Olympian Kaillie Humphries will serve as parade marshal at the 2015 Stampede parade.
Calgary Stampede President Bill Gray made the announcement at a morning news conference on Wednesday.
“Kaillie is an incredible role model,” said Gray. “She is confident and strong, and those characteristics have allowed her to not only focus on training, but to reach her dreams and goals.”
“As a community, we should be incredibly proud to have Kaillie as our parade marshal.”

Humphries is a two-time Olympic bobsled champion. She won the two-woman event at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver and then successfully defended her title in 2014 in Sochi.

Last November, she piloted a mixed-gender team to the bronze medal in the Canadian four-man bobsled championships.

“When I got the call, I literally started jumping up and down and I almost peed my pants ” joked Humphries. “For me to be able to be Stampede parade marshal is an absolute honour.”
“Through and through, I am Calgarian.”
Former Stampede parade marshals include actor William Shatner, astronaut Chris Hadfield , Man in Motion Rick Hansen, actor Christopher Reeve and Mickey Mouse.
