TORONTO — Johnny Carson is the most popular late night TV host — a decade after his death — according to the results of a poll released Tuesday.
The Quinnipiac University Poll asked 2,105 Americans: “Who is your favourite late-night television talk show host of all time?”
Carson, who hosted The Tonight Show from 1962 to 1992, was named a favourite of 25 per cent of respondents over the age of 18.
He was most popular with those between 50 and 64, earning 45 per cent of the votes.
David Letterman, who retired from the Late Show last month, was chosen by 13 per cent of respondents. His strongest support came from respondents aged 30 to 49.
