PENTICTON – The cat up the tree in downtown Penticton was no household kitty. It was an intruder from the woods.
On Wednesday morning, a cougar was spotted up a tree along the Okanagan lake waterfront.

RCMP and conservation officers were called to deal with the potentially dangerous situation.
The cougar was shot with a tranquilizer dart, but before the drug took effect, it jumped out of the tree and ran along the sidewalk.
The big cat was captured a short distance away.
