One of the Edmonton Oilers’ top young stars has suffered, what could be, a very serious injury.

Left winger, Taylor Hall, was hurt when he accidentally made contact with a teammate during team warmups before the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday night.

It happened after Hall stepped on a puck and fell, knocking down Ladislav Smid. Corey Potter, who was skating towards the two players, tried to jump over them, but instead his skate struck Hall’s head.

Hall was not wearing his helmet or visor in the warmup. He did skate off on his own with a towel over his face, it’s unclear at this point if he was taken to hosptial for medical attention.

He did not play in the first period. The team announced in the second period that Hall had suffered a “cut to the head” and would not play in the game.
