Extreme wind chill warning issued for Southern Saskatchewan

Environment Canada has issued an extreme wind chill warning for Southern Saskatchewan, including Regina.

The agency says bitterly cold Arctic air combined with northwesterly winds of 15 to 20 km/h will produce wind chill values of minus 40 or colder overnight and into Thursday morning.

In the Regina area a cold weather disturbance is bringing high winds and temperatures ranging from -40 to -49 overnight. There is a high risk of receiving frostbite and if you’re not dressed properly in these conditions you could get hypothermia.

Environment Canada says at these extreme values, frostbite on exposed skin can occur in less than 10 minutes.
