HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government is spending $15 million to upgrade and repair 43 schools across the province and some of the work is needed because of this year’s tough winter.

Education Minister Karen Casey says harsh weather this year is behind some of the cost, which includes roof repairs caused by snow buildup.

Other improvements that are planned include window replacements, upgrades to a teen health centre and cafeteria, paving and boiler replacements.

The government says all capital repair projects that are eligible for funding must represent improvements to a school’s infrastructure with a cost between $150,000 and $1 million.
