WINNIPEG – A blaze broke out at an apartment building on Bannatyne Avenue and Kate Street Sunday morning.
Fire crews were called to the scene just after 11:00 a.m.
Smoke was billowing from the roof of a residence on Bannatyne.
A witness said the building was under renovation and vacant at the time of the fire.
Neighbors living nearby were told to leave their homes in case the blaze spread.

Police and fire crews blocked off the area in the Exchange District and are continuing to investigate what happened.
