COPENHAGEN – Denmark’s Queen Margrethe says she rules Europe’s oldest monarchy just fine without modern inventions like the Internet or cellphones.

Asked by a Norwegian reporter about her lack of interest in modern tools of communication, 71-year-old Margrethe said she finds it “very peaceful” to be offline.

She added cheerfully: “I am doing just fine the way things are, thank you.”

The queen spoke to journalists at Copenhagen’s Amalienborg Palace ahead of celebrations this weekend marking her 40 years on Denmark’s throne. Her family traces its lineage back to Viking kings in the 10th century.
