Leaders to issue last hurrahs as clock winds down to voting day

Above watch: Party leaders were out in force on the eve of the election, and if advanced polls are any indication this will be an historic election. Gary Bobrovitz reports.

EDMONTON — The leaders of Alberta’s political parties have one more day to get their messages out before voters decide what opinion surveys have suggested will be a close three-way race among Progressive Conservatives, the NDP and the Wildrose party.

NDP Leader Rachel Notley will make her closing campaign remarks Monday in Edmonton.

Jim Prentice of the PCs will begin his day in Edmonton prior to stops in Leduc, Red Deer and Calgary.

Brian Jean of the Wildrose party is also racking up heavy mileage, starting with a news conference in Calgary before hitting the road for Olds, Innisfail, Leduc, Sherwood Park and Stony Plain.

The Liberals’ David Swann will make an announcement in Calgary about the cost of his party’s platform and his economic plan for Alberta.

Notley told more than 1,000 cheering supporters on Sunday that the choice for Alberta’s future is their’s and doesn’t belong to Prentice and his corporate friends.
