NDP candidates experienced enough to govern Alberta, says Notley

CALGARY – Alberta NDP Leader Rachel Notley says voters shouldn’t worry about a lack of experience from her candidates if an orange wave of support carries her party into government on Tuesday.

The NDP has a full slate of 87 candidates, but some are university students and only four are incumbents.

Notley says her candidates reflect Alberta and she is confident there are plenty of “leadership-type” people that she could put into cabinet.

She says youth is a good thing, especially in Alberta, the youngest province in the country.

Notley has already acknowledged that some of her candidates are nominated both federally and provincially.

Wildrose Party leader Brian Jean also has a number of new candidates this time around, but he says his rookies are professional individuals, including lawyers and economic professors.
