Man charged with second degree murder following triple homicide in Burns Lake

WATCH: RCMP in the small community of Burns Lake are investigating the murders of three people. Catherine Urquhart reports.

VANCOUVER – A man has been arrested in connection with a triple homicide in Burns Lake.

RCMP say they were called to a home in the 200-block of 5th Avenue after receiving reports of possible “foul play.”

When the officers entered the home they found three people – one woman and two men – dead inside. The identities of the victims are not being released at this time.

Fifty-four-year old Burns Lake resident Rueben Buhler was arrested in connection with the homicides and has been charged with three counts of second degree murder. He is expected to appear in Burns Lake Provincial Court on Wednesday.

Police believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.

The North District Major Crime Unit (ND MCU), Prince George Forensic Identification Unit (PG FIS), and members from the North District General Investigative Unit (ND GIS out of Terrace and Prince George) are assisting the Burns lake RCMP in their investigation.

RCMP say the investigation is still in its very early stages and no other information can be released at this time.
