TORONTO — Google executive Dan Fredinburg was among the victims of Saturday’s devastating Nepal earthquake.
According to Google’s Lawrence You, the 33-year-old head of privacy for Google X — Google’s high-tech experimentation division — was killed in an avalanche triggered by the quake.
Fredinburg was part of a team on an expedition up Mount Everest. Two others suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Jagged Globe.
Fredinburg’s sister Megan confirmed on her brother’s Instagram that he suffered a fatal head wound.

Fredinburg co-founded climate change non-profit Save The Ice.
“We have lost a great friend, inspiring adventurer, and, above all, a warrior for the planet,” reads a message on the organization’s website.
He was the ex-boyfriend of Chicago P.D. actress Sophia Bush, who shared her grief on social media late Saturday.
Friends of Fredinburg have created a Crowdrise campaign to raise funds for aid to Nepal in his memory.
On social media, those who knew him mourn his loss.
