Police ask for help identifying the driver in a hit-and-run

CALGARY – Calgary Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a red Honda Civic after a hit-and-run Monday evening.

It happened at around 5:30 p.m. on Deerfoot Trail S.E. near the 130th Avenue exit.

Officers say a Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling northbound when the rider got into an altercation with the driver of a red Honda Civic.

Both vehicles were travelling at around 100 km/h when the Honda pulled alongside the bike, made contact with it, knocking the rider off.

Police say the driver of the Honda fled the scene and the motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Honda is described as a two-door Civic, with a spoiler on the back and a model year between 2009 and 2013.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area and witnessed the incident to contact them at 403-266-1234.

Drivers with dashboard cameras are also encouraged to check their videos for the red Honda, as any image of the car could help identify the driver.
