EDMONTON – Groat Road will once again be closed to traffic this weekend as crews prepare to remove one of the bent girders on the 102 Avenue bridge.
Groat Road will be closed between 107 Avenue and River Valley Road, beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday. It will remain closed until 6 a.m. Monday, the city said Thursday.
Contractors on the project have determined one of the girders must be removed, and either repaired or replaced. It may be necessary to remove one or more of the other girders that buckled during installation last month. Further information will be released once a final assessment of the girders is done.

In addition to the road closure, parking will not be allowed along the east side of 116 Street between 100 Avenue and Jasper Avenue. There will be no access to the multi-use path next to Groat Road this weekend either.
The city says additional weekend closures of Groat Road will be necessary during the girder removal process.
