HALIFAX – The two people accused in the death of Loretta Saunders have pleaded guilty to murder.
Blake Leggette pleaded guilty Wednesday in Nova Scotia Supreme Court to first-degree murder. The plea involves an automatic life sentence with no parole eligibility for 25 years.
Victoria Henneberry pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, which carries a life sentence and no parole eligibility of between 10 and 25 years.
Both were remanded into custody until April 29.
After the pleas were read in court, Loretta Saunders’s family exited the courtroom and filed into the elevator without speaking to media.

“I’m so happy,” could be heard from Miriam Saunders, Loretta Saunders’s mother, along with squeals of excitement.
The pleas came after two full days of jury selection.
