West Kelowna Crews called in to help young man stuck on Mount Boucherie

KELOWNA–Some tense moments for a young man out on an adventure in West Kelowna tonight.
A passer-by called 9-11 when he heard calls for help coming from Mount Boucherie.

It appears a boy had been out on a hike on the mountain, but when dusk fell, he
found himself stuck and spooked near a cliff edge. By the time emergency crews arrived,
the boy’s parents had found him and were talking him off the cliff.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“Basically our crews just walked him out. They didn’t have to break out their ropes,” says Darren Lee, Assistant Chief of West Kelowna Fire Rescue.  “It was just a hike up and make sure they got out safely.”

It’s unclear exactly how old the boy is, or if he was alone when he found himself stuck on the mountain.
