Man hit with bottle dies in northern Saskatchewan: RCMP

LA LOCHE, Sask. – A charge of manslaughter has been laid after a death on April 19 in northern Saskatchewan. RCMP were initially called to a complaint of an assault in La Loche, Sask. at 11:30 a.m.

Investigations determined a confrontation between two local men has occurred at a business. RCMP say Kelly Sylvestre, 24, was hit over the head with a bottle by the second man and fell to the ground.

Sylvestre was pronounced dead at the La Loche health centre. An autopsy is scheduled to take place Tuesday in Edmonton.

Joshua Janvier, 23, was arrested and is charged with manslaughter and two counts of breaching probation. He has been remanded and will appear in provincial court on Thursday.
