Shocking video released of accused killer Treyvonne Willis

WINNIPEG — A chilling video of an accused killer calmly boarding the bus after he allegedly stabbed a Winnipeg woman to death, has been made public.

Appearing relaxed, even smiling and laughing at times, Treyvonne Willis, 22, and his friend board a city bus, on their way to kill 26-year old Kaila Tran, court was told.

The jury watched a lengthy set of videos from June 2012 during Willis’ first degree murder trial this week.

When the pair arrived at Tran’s St. Vital apartment just after 7 am on June 19th, she had already left for work.

The next day, court heard Willis and his friend again boarded a bus, this time around 6 am with the murder weapon, a kitchen knife with a red plastic handle, tucked away in Willis’ backpack.  The two don’t say much with a bus full of passengers. After 30 minutes, they get off and get into a taxi, Willis sits in the front seat as they are driven to Trans’ apartment.

This time they were not late.  Court was told on Tuesday, Tran was stabbed 30 times in the head and neck as she walked to her car.  Jurors were shown the murder weapon which was found in the Seine River near the apartment.

Shortly after the killing, Willis’ friend is seen getting on a city bus alone, sitting with his head down, on his cellphone. Court was told, he went with Willis for “moral support”.

Then 33 minutes later, Willis is shown boarding a bus wearing different clothes, he paid his fare, and takes a seat at the back.  He was arrested 6 days later.

Willis has pleaded not guilty. Court heard Willis was repaying a drug debt to Trans boyfriend.  Killing Tran would pay that debt.  The defence argued Willis was high on meth at the time of the murder.  Willis’ friend testified in the trial and did not face any charges.  There’s no word why.

Tuesday, many jurors squirmed in their seats and had to look away as they were shown gruesome photos of Trans body after the attack.  A slimmer looking Willis sat in the prisoners box, showing no emotion.  The Crown will wrap up its case Thursday.  It’s not known if Willis testify in his own defence.
