KELOWNA – RCMP have located and destroyed what they describe as “several” sticks of dynamite in Joe Rich, east of Kelowna.
Early Sunday morning, police were called about dynamite discovered on a residential property in the 8000 block of Sun Valley Road. Police attended the scene and did find the dynamite in what appeared to be deteriorated condition.
The RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit were called. After confirming the sticks were dynamite, the unit disposed of them.
Police say there may be more dynamite unaccounted for and have launched a search. A chopper took to the air Sunday to scour the area. A police dog was also dispatched to the scene but so far nothing has been found.
Police continue investigating and are asking the public for any information in this matter.
