WINNIPEG- The Jets playoff berth is a big win for some Manitoba non-profits.
The team has secured at least two home games in the post-season which means at least two more 50/50 draws this season.
The Jets split the earnings between the winning fan and the True North Foundation, which helps fund programs for youth across the province.
“We use it to off set the cost for our clients,” said Christopher Martin, with the Movement Centre.
The Centre provides programming for people with mobility challenges including cerebral palsy, stroke and Parkinson’s disease.
It does not receive any government funding but has been given grants from True North which means staff can focus more on helping clients instead of planning fundraisers.
Martin hopes fans going to the games will give generously when they pass by the 50/50 booths.
If you are looking for a place to watch the games, The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 215 just off Henderson Highway is hoping people think of stopping by there.
“We have drink specials and four big TVs,” said Nicole Fanshaw, with the legion.
She says with each passing game more and more fans are filling the tables.
The money earned from drinks and food goes towards supporting the facility for veterans to enjoy as well as gets donated back into the community.
