WATCH: It has been a day of changes across the Global network. The good news is that you won’t notice anything different in our Global BC newscasts, except perhaps for one — as a familiar face to our viewers moves into a new job. Asa Rehman explains.
Jill Krop, one of the most recognizable and trusted journalists in the province, is taking on new responsibilities as the Station Manager and News Director for Global BC.
After more than 25 years of working on air as a reporter and anchor, Jill is bringing her fresh approach and energy behind the scenes to lead one of the most dynamic television stations in the country.
“Jill is a passionate member of the community and there is no one better suited or up for the challenge of leading this organization, from an editorial and workflow perspective, or from the vantage point of growing our presence in the community,” says Vice President Western Canada/Shaw Media Kenton Boston.
Krop, who has been with Global BC for almost 18 years, says it’s “a huge change” moving from on-air to a management role, but one she’s looking forward to.
“I think I bring a lot of history with British Columbia, a lot of journalistic credibility, and now I get to grow my role as a community ambassador,” she said.
The appointment is effective immediately.
