Interstellar Rodeo brings ‘sophisticated’ music fest to Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – Interstellar Rodeo, an annual Edmonton festival marketed as a higher-end musical experience, will come to Winnipeg in its fourth year.

The Winnipeg version of the festival features headliners Sinéad O’Connor, Dwight Yoakam and Blue Rodeo at The Forks Aug. 14-16.

Promoters of the event paint it as a “unique concept of important, inimitable music paired with fine wines and high-quality local food.”

Other artists scheduled to play at the festival are Vance Joy, Steve Earle and the Dukes, Tanya Tagaq, Hawksley Workman, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Rhiannon Giddens, The Lone Bellow, Black Joe Lewis, July Talk, Elliott Brood and NQ Arbuckle, Jason Plumb and the Willing, Amelia Curran and Justin Townes Earl.

The festival is put on by independent Canadian recording label Six Shooter Records.

Adult ticket prices range from just under $70 for an early bird Friday-night ticket to $225 for an advance transferable adult weekend pass. More information can be found on the Interstellar Rodeo website.
