WEST KELOWNA–A vehicle fire in West Kelowna Friday evening lit up the car port it was in, and threatened a townhouse complex off Witt Road.
The flames spread quickly, and both the van and the carport were fully involved when crews arrived.
Fire crews responded with 3 vehicles and 12 personnel.
It was a challenging fire to fight, because it was moving so quickly and because the homes are in such close proximity.
“This fire had real potential to expand to buildings nearby,” says West Kelowna Fire Chief Jason Brolund, “we responded in a way to protect the complex.”
The fire affected two units, and three people were taken into the care of Emergency Social Services.
The fire department is looking into the cause of the fire.
