Yard waste collection in Winnipeg will now be done by area. Residents must know whether they live in Area A or Area B in order to determine when their yard waste will be picked up. City of Winnipeg / www.winnipeg.ca

WINNIPEG – City residents wanting to put yard waste on the curb for removal will have to check whether they’re in Area A or B for pickup.

Curbside yard waste pickup starts April 6 for Area A and April 13 for the rest of the city. Residents can find their yard waste area on the City of Winnipeg website or by downloading the city’s My Waste app. The My Waste app also has information on recycling and garbage pickup days.

Yard waste should be put out in a reusable container with no lid (plastic tubs, old garbage cans, etc.), cardboard boxes or paper yard waste bags. Yard waste left in plastic bags won’t be picked up. Containers should be left beside garbage and recycling bins with at least an arm’s length separating them.

Logs, stumps, rocks, dirt, sod and litter should not be included in yard waste because they slow down composting and can damage equipment.
