TORONTO – Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health has issued an extreme cold weather alert for the city with the expected overnight low of -12C.
The advisory triggers cold weather services for the homeless including two 24-hour drop-ins, additional shelter beds and TTC tokens for people to get to shelter.
The City of Toronto has issued 39 alerts so far this winter, including the one today.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s high is expected to be -1C with an evening low of -8C. Temperatures begin to warm up to 4C by Sunday afternoon.
