NEEPAWA, Man. – The mayor of a big western Manitoba town is stepping down, a little more than a year after being elected.
Ron Forsman, who heads the seven-member council in Neepawa, says he’s resigning because current circumstances are affecting his health and well-being.

Deputy mayor and councillor Lisa Pottinger will take over until a new mayor is elected.
A date for a mayoral byelection has not been set.
Rick Donaldson, Neepawa’s economic development officer, says he believes officials have 90 days from the time of the resignation to hold a vote.
