VERNON – A judge has sentenced a Vernon man to jail time for attempting to lure a child over the internet.

Stewart Kerr was arrested in August 2013 at a restaurant where he believed he was meeting with a child. Instead, he was met by the Mounties.

Kerr, in his 50’s, had been communicating online with someone he thought was a young boy but who was a RCMP officer.

He was sentenced to nine months jail followed by three years probation.

Kerr must also submit a DNA sample.
