TORONTO – It is now possible for people to buy domain names ending with “XXX.”
Launching on Wednesday, the popular porn moniker “XXX” can now be used to differentiate pornography websites from regular websites.
The Florida-based company responsible for the domain, ICM registry, says the new domain name will also responsible alternatives for the pornography industry. “While adult entertainment is enjoyable to many adults, it is not appropriate for all audiences. We created .XXX to address the unique needs of the online adult entertainment industry. The public response has been overwhelming as consumers and the adult entertainment providers are excited about the benefits and infinite possibilities of .XXX,” said Stuart Lawley, CEO of ICM Registry.

A number of businesses and organizations have already bought .xxx domain name to prevent pornography sites attempting to gain off their image. The University of Texas has already bought taxassports.xxx and texasboxoffice.xxx, they were also able to block trademarked names such as universityoftexas.xxx and hookemhorns.xxx.
Toronto.xxx has reportedly already been bought.
