UPDATE: Surrey homicide victim identified

UPDATE: The victim has now been identified as 34-year-old Michael Donald Amy of Abbotsford. Investigators say the killing was not a random act.

VANCOUVER – A body has been found in a car in Surrey and police are still on scene investigating.

Mounties received a call at about 9:50 a.m. on Feb.27 to help emergency health services deal with an unresponsive in a vehicle in the 9500-block of 139 Street.

Cause of death has not been confirmed at this time and police are releasing no details about the person’s identity, only that the victim is male.

Traffic in the area is being rerouted and officers are canvasing the area for information.

Surrey RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit is currently investigating and more details will be released as they become available.

IHIT is also investigating.
