EDMONTON – A serious injury collision involving an SUV and a sanding truck shut down Highway 43 in both directions Wednesday.
Stony Plain RCMP, along with fire and EMS crews, were called to the scene at 10:50 a.m.
Both vehicles had one person inside. One driver was taken by STARS to an Edmonton hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other driver was treated on scene with non life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened on Highway 43 between Highway 33 and Range Road 31.
By 1 p.m., the northbound lanes had been reopened to traffic on Highway 43, but officers said southbound lanes would be closed for about another hour.
The names of those involved in the crash are not being released until family has been reached.
