Madness expected for annual blackberry mead release from Regina brew pub

REGINA – There will be lots of people lining up on Regina’s Dewdney Avenue with a thirst for a certain annual brew released only at this time of year.

On Saturday, Bushwakker (bush-whacker) Brewpub is selling 6,000 bottles of its blackberry mead, which is fermented honey.

Master brewer Mitch Dalrymple (DARE-IMPLE) says back in the 90s, they brewed just two tanks, but now they are up to 10 tanks and growing.

Last year, people lined up for about six hours and the bottle were gone in an hour.

Dalrymple says — quote — “people go wild for it.”

He says he’s not sure why, but he surmises it might because it’s a good quality product.

Dalrymple admits he doesn’t know where the magic comes in, but thinks it’s got to do with lots of people coming home for Christmas.
