KELOWNA – There are some intriguing sculptures on display at Kelowna’s Orchard Park Mall this week.

For the sixth year, teams have come together for a friendly competition that involves a lot of creativity and thousands of cans of food.

Between now and Wednesday night, the Canstruction competition will see $21,000 of donated, canned foods made into all kinds of sculptures with an Okanagan theme.

The People’s Choice award is one of the prizes the teams are competing for, but with all the food ultimately donated to the Kelowna Community Foodbank and the Salvation Army, the real winners are people in need.

“When we were growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money. From time-to-time, we got our meals from the foodbank. So it’s come full circle. We’re at the point in our lives where everything is going great but I know there’s lots of people who are in the same boat we were in,” says sculpture builder Dave Miles.
