Man arrested after stabbing outside Saskatoon movie theatre

SASKATOON – A man has been charged after a stabbing Friday afternoon. The attack happened just before 6 p.m. outside a downtown Saskatoon movie theatre.

A 48-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after he was stabbed outside the Scotiabank Theatre in the 300-block of 2nd Avenue South.

By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled the scene. He was later arrested after being identified by forensic identification and targeted enforcement officers.

The 40-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault and was also found to be in breach of a probation order. His name has not been released.

He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Tuesday morning.
