The town of Port Hope has reestablished their water supply after declaring a state of emergency due to a frozen water intake pipe at the municipality’s water treatment plant.
As of 7:00 a.m., it was thought there was only enough water left in their reserve tank to supply Ward 1 for 10 hours, according to a press release.

The municipality has since called off the emergency and says residents can return to business as usual.
Making the declaration allowed municipal staff to access aid from the province if it was required.
The municipality had asked residents and businesses to use the least amount of water possible while avoiding doing laundry or taking long showers.
Municipal staff said there was no risk to the public and water quality has not been affected.
