Power out for much of Yaletown due to equipment failure

"Wow," tweeted Aaron Nissen (@anissen) along with this picture, at 3:12 this afternoon. "A power line blew in YALETOWN. Actually caught the Sparks as it happened.".

A blown power line in Yaletown has darkened much of the neighbourhood for hours, with many businesses closing for the evening.

It happened just after 3 p.m. today on Hamilton street, shutting down power between Drake Street, Richards Street, Pacific Boulevard, Cambie Street and Nelson Street. BC Hydro has said power will be restored sometime 8 and 10 p.m.
