WATCH: School bus driver walks off job, leaves kids on road

A school district in Brazoria County, Texas is reeling after a school bus driver walked off the job Tuesday, leaving children unattended on the road.

Security camera footage shows the driver reprimanding a few students for being noisy although the footage shows they were quiet for most of the ride.

The driver seems aggravated, yelling at the students to sit down and be quiet.

At one point she asks, “Did all of y’all end up on the short bus?” implying that the children are mentally disabled.

Eventually she stops the bus and walks out.

She can be heard calling for a replacement driver saying, “I’m done. They can have this crap.”

According to the school district, she stayed on the scene until the back-up driver arrived, but police are investigating her for abandoning the children who were allegedly left without supervision for up to 30 minutes.

The children on the bus say many grew frantic and scared. Some reportedly became physically ill.

The school district says the driver had worked for them for two years. They offered to place her on administrative leave but the driver opted to resign.

The driver was already under investigation for another incident where she allegedly hit a child on the side of the head.
