Repair crews were working on the roof of BC Place Stadium on Saturday and again this morning to repair a couple of small leaks that resulted in water dripping on the field before the Grey Cup kickoff this afternoon.
General manager Howard Crosley said the crews are using silicone sealing material to stop the leaks, which occurred where the fixed panel roof meets the retractable roof. The stadium has recently undergone $560 million in renovations, and Crosley said this week’s rain was the roof’s first test.

“We’re just glad that we have the opportunity to fix them before the game tonight,” he said in an interview, adding that the leaks are small and would not have affected spectators.
Leaks were also detected when the stadium reopened in September after the renovations.
The game between the B.C. Lions and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
