VANCOUVER – There is bad news this morning for skiers and snowboarders; Cypress Mountain is closing due to a lack of snow.

The mountain is putting everything on hold after a dismal start to the season, which usually extends into late April. Officials say they’re hoping the mountain will get the chance to reopen before then. They’re hoping for more snow or for temperatures to drop so they can make snow.

This is not the first mountain to close or adjust their schedule due to the weather. Hemlock Ski Resort never had the chance to open this season and Mount Washington has already suspended operations due to the weather.

Some mountains in the interior are planning to cash in on the closure. Manning park is offering a 25 per cent discount to season pass holders from other mountains.
