Toronto doctor charged with making child pornography

TORONTO – A Toronto doctor is being charged with two counts of possessing child pornography, accessing child pornography and making child pornography. 

Dr. Kevin Speight, the 39-year old who stands accused, lives in Toronto and received his medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax in 1997.

He was arrested at his home in Toronto where police seized a quantity of computer equipment containing child pornography

At the time of his arrest, Dr. Speight was practising at the Trillium Health Centre, at 100 Queensway
West, Mississauga, and the Franklin Medical Centre, in Cambridge.

According to a statement released by Trillium Health Centre, “Dr. Speight has been suspended by
the health centre pending the outcome of our internal investigation and the
police investigation and court proceedings.
 “

Speight completed a 2-year family practice residency at the University of Toronto in 1999. He has also worked as an emergency room doctor for the past 12 years.

Dr. Speight also did house calls and worked in air ambulances, diet clinics, walk-in clinics and did pharmaceutical research. 

 

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday at 10 a.m.
