Hydro-Quebec’s CEO Thierry Vandal to step down

MONTREAL — Thierry Vandal, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Quebec, is stepping down after 18 years with the province’s electricity provider.

Hydro-Quebec spokesperson Mathieu Rouy told Global News that Vandal will remain as CEO until May 1, 2015.

Mr. Vandal joined Hydro-Quebec in November 1996, serving as Vice-President of Strategic Planning and Business Development. In 2001, he became President of Hydro-Quebec Production, and in April 2005, he was named President and Chief Executive Officer.

“The contribution of Mr. Vandal in the development and influence of Hydro-Quebec has been outstanding,” Michael Penner, Hydro-Quebec’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, said in a statement.

“I would like to warmly thank him for the efforts he took to ensure the organization met its objectives during his ten years as President and CEO.”

Hydro-Quebec noted that Vandal will continue to be fully engaged in company projects and business initiatives until his departure.
