Some Metro Vancouver residents are waking up in the dark this morning after a crash in Port Coquitlam.
A truck took out a power pole at Pitt River Road and Citadel Drive early this morning, causing a huge power outage in the area.
Over three thousand BC Hydro customers in Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Pitt Meadows are currently without electricity.
BC Hydro says the accident caused extensive damage to their system and crews worked throughout the early morning to make the necessary repairs, including replacing a power pole and a broken crossarm.
They are currently replacing and repairing multiple spans of wiring that were torn down as a result of the accident.
The company is expecting to restore power by about 11 a.m. this morning.
An investigation into the crash is underway, but no one was seriously hurt.
The intersection is expected to remain closed until mid-morning.
