Ottawa hotel evacuated after tip from Nova Scotia RCMP

HALIFAX – RCMP in Halifax confirm they have passed on information regarding hazardous chemicals to Ottawa Police.

According to a news release, Ottawa police evacuated the Chimo Hotel located in the 1100 block of Joseph Cyr as a safety precaution around 4 a.m. ET. They say a HAZMAT team attended the scene after a threat was made by a suspicious man.

This follows incidents on Tuesday where Nova Scotia RCMP located hazardous chemicals in two communities outside Halifax.

Nova Scotia RCMP are planning on releasing more information on the case sometime Wednesday morning.
