Shooting sends man to hospital in northern Saskatchewan

LA LOCHE, Sask. – Charges are pending against a 19-year-old man after he allegedly shot a man in northern Saskatchewan. The shooting happened at a residence around six kilometres south of La Loche, Sask.

At 4:30 p.m., emergency services were called to the scene just off of Highway 155 where they found a 46-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital in the nearby village for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival but was arrested later outside the residence without incident. He remains in custody.

RCMP say the shooting does not appear to be random as the victim and suspect are related.

Member of Forensic Identification Section and the Major Crimes Unit from Saskatoon are assisting with the investigation.
